2010 Movie Preview

1. "The Last Song" is not only Miley Cyrus' big screen debut (other that "Hannah Mantana: The Movie") but it looks amazing. It is from the writer of "The Notebook" and "A Walk To Remember" (Nicholas Sparks). This film stars Miley Cyrus as Veronica Miller, Greg Kinnear as Steve Miller, and Liam Hemsworth as Will Blakelee. It is set on a beach where an estranged father gets a chance to spend all summer with his daughter who would rather be in New York. He tried to connect with her in many ways including first loves. Miley is anticipated to do an amazing job with this. "The Last Song" is directed by Julie Anne Robinson. This movie will come to theaters on April 2, 2010.

2. "Alice In Wonderland" has never been a normal story. This version looks like it will be more unique then any version yet. This stars Johnny Depp (2009's sexiest man alive) as The Mad Hatter, Anne Hathaway as The White Queen, Mia Wasikowska as Alice, Helena Bonham Carter as The Red Queen, and Crispin Glover as The Knave of Hearts. If you need a synopsis of the plot then here it is. When a girl named ALice falls down a rabbit hole in pursuit of a White Rabbit she finds herself in Wonderland. And there begin the fantastic adventures that will see a lot of extraordinary changes in size, swimming in a pool of her own tears and attending the craziest of tea parties. Wonderland is no place like home and Alice soon finds that out. In this imaginary land she runs into the savagely violent Queen, the Lachrymose Mock Turtle, the crazy Cheshire Cat and the smoking Caterpillar, each as surprising and outlandish as the next. This movie is directed by Tim Burton, it will be in 3D, and you will see it in theaters on March 5, 2010.

3. "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" is most likely on most of my readers top ten movies to see next year. It is the 3rd movie of the highly successful Twilight Saga. This movie stars Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan, Robert
Pattinson
as Edward Cullen, Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black, and Bryce Dallas Howard as Victoria. With the other to villains gone, all the Cullens and Bella have to worry about now is the worst of them all, Victoria. Bella has even more boy drama included in this movie. Between the same two boys. She is forced to choose between her one true love, Edward, and her best friend, Jacob. With Bella getting closer to graduating, everything complicates. The director of this movie is David Slade. Expect to see all of your local theaters packed on June 30, 2010.

4. "Shrek Forever After" is a very highly antisipated 2010 movie. This stars the voices of Mike Meyers as Shrek, Eddie Murphy as Donkey, Antonio Banderaz as Puss in Boots and Cameron Diaz as Princess Fiona. Yes, the all star cast is back for a 4th box office hit. This Shrek film is about Shrek now being a family man. Shrek has been longing for the days when he felt like a “real ogre,” but when he is tricked into signing a pact with the smooth-talking dealmaker, Rumpelstiltskin, Shrek suddenly finds himself in a twisted, alternate version of Far Far Away, where ogres are hunted. Rumplestiltskin is king and Shrek and Fiona have never met. It is up to Shrek to fix everything so he will have his family and friends back. Although the third Shrek movie didn't quite meet expectations, I am still thrilled to see this. Mike Mitchell is the enchanting movies' director. This will hit theaters on May 21, 2010.

5. "Ramona And Beezus" is Selena Gomez's big screen debut. It is based on the Newberry Award-honored series by Beverly Cleary about a little mischievous girl named Ramona. There is no poster yet, but this is a promotional photo for the movie. The movie features Selena Gomez as Beezus and Joey King as Ramona. Ramona and Beezus are sisters, Ramona is 4 and Beezus has just turned 10. They will got into fun situations on Klickitat Street. This movie is directed by Elizabeth Allen, and will hit theaters on August 13, 2010.

6. "The Roommate" isn't too far in filming. It stars Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester, as Rebecca, a deranged college freshman who becomes dangerously obsessed with her new roommate, Sarah. Also starring in this movie is Allison Michakla as Tracy. This movie has no poster or promotional images, but I'll post them as they come out. Christian E. Christiansen is the director of this, and it hits theaters on August 17, 2010.

7. "Dear John" is another film based on a Nicholas Sparks novel. It stars Amanda Seyfried as Savannah Lynn Curtis and Channing Tatum as John Tyree. The film is about a boy named John who, out of anger, joined the army after high school. Then, during a furlough, he meets a girl named Savannah Lynn Curtis who is attending college in North Carolina. She is working for Habitat for Humanity, and she is totally unprepared for the passionate attraction she feels for John Tyree. They fall in passionate love quickly until John is forced to leave and serve for his country. They write letters, and Savannah is forced to choose between waiting for john, or moving on. Lasse Hallstrom is the director of this movie. The wait is not long for this one because it hits theaters on February 5, 2010.

8. "Toy Story 3" has been planned for so many years. I have been waiting a long time for this one and now it is almost here! All of the all star voices are back for another adventure. Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, Wallace Shawn as Rex, Jon Ratzenberger as Hamm, Don Rickles as Mr. Potato Head, and Joan Cusack as Jessie. Andy has grown up into a young adult, and he is going off to college. Before the toys know it they end up at a day-care center. They struggle to survive as preschoolers devour them. Lee Unkrich is the director of this fun 3D film. Expect to head over to the theater and have a toy-packed afternoon with your whole family on June 18, 2010.

9. "Date Night" is not your typical romantic comedy. This is known simply by the cast, Steve Carell plays Phil Foster, and Tina Fey plays Clara Foster. A typical couple decide to go out for their weekly dinner, but this time Phil decides to take someone else's seat he finds himself in the spot of a criminal. They have a crazy night of running from men who are trying to kill them. When you mix comedy and thriller together it is never a bad thing. ("Get Smart," "Mr. And Mrs. Smith") Shawn Levy directs this film. "Date Night" hits theaters on April 9, 2010.

10. "Valentine's Day" has more movie stars than any other movie I have ever seen. It stars Taylor Lautner, Taylor Swift, Anne Hathaway, Bradley Cooper, Jessica Biel, Jessica Alba, Ashton Kutcher, Julia Roberts, Emma Roberts, Jennifer Garner, Jamie Foxx, Patrick Dempsey, George Lopez, and Queen Latifah. Those are just the big names. The movie is about 5 couples in Los Angeles and the struggles they go through on Valentine's day. Gary Marshall is the director of the movie. This movie is coming out just 2 days before the title, February 12, 2010.

11. "Beastly" has two very talented young women in it. Vanessa Hudgens as Linda Taylor, and Mary-Kate Olsen as Kendra Hilferty. It also stars Neil Patrick Harris as Will Fratalli, and Alex Pettyfer as Kyle Kingson. Kyle Kingson had everything, including a wicked cruel streak. He has always mocked and humiliated “aggressively unattractive” classmates, so he zeroes in on Goth classmate Kendra, inviting her to the school’s extravagant environmental bash. Kendra accepts, and, like always, Kyle blows her off in a particularly evil fashion. She gets back at him by casting a spell that physically transforms him into everything he despises. The only way to break the horrible spell is to find someone that loves him for who he is. Repulsed by his looks, Kyle's father makes him move to Brooklyn with a sympathetic housekeeper and blind tutor. As Kyle ponders how to overcome the curse and get his old life back, he comes upon a drug addict in the act of killing a threatening dealer. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Kyle promises the addict freedom and safety for his daughter, Lindy if she will agree to live in Kyle’s Brooklyn home. This begins Kyle’s journey to discover true love in this modern retelling of the classic “Beauty and the Beast” story. This is directed by Daniel Barnz, and will hit theaters on July 30, 2010.

12. "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" is the 3rd in the Narnia series. The photo to your right is not the movie poster, but it is the cover of the C. S. Lewis novel that this movie is based upon. This movie stars Ben Barnes as King Caspian, Skander Keynes as Edmund Pevensie, Will Poulter as Eustace Scrubb and Georgie Henley as Lucy Pevensie. It is about Lucy and Edmund Pevensie as they return to Narnia with their cousin Eustace, where they encounter King Caspian aboard the royal ship Dawn Treader. They join him on a quest across the eastern sea for eight missing lords of Narnia; along the way, they encounter delights, dangers, and transformations before reaching the edge of the world and Aslan's country. Michael Apted is the director and this movie will sail it's way to theaters on December 10, 2010.

13. "Leap Year" is a romantic comedy starring Amy Adams as Anna, and Matthew Goode as Declan. It is about a determined woman traveling to her "perfect guy" so that she can propose to him. Fate has a different plan. She finds herself being driven around the world by Declan. They are forced to share a car and a bed which eventually leads to them falling in love. When she eventually makes it to her husband will she go with him or stay with Declan? Find out on January 8, 2010. This film was directed by Anand Tucker.

14. "Iron Man 2" is the sequel to the amazing "Iron Man." This film stars Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, and Mickey Rourke as Ivan Vanko/Whiplash. Iron Man will have to defeat Whiplash and continue his romance life as well. This will be an action packed adventure that hits theaters on May 7, 2010. This film was directed by Jon Favreau.

15. "When In Rome" stars Veronica Mars' Kristen Bell. Kristen plays Beth, Josh Duhamel plays Nick and Anjelica Houston plays Celeste. Also featured is Will Arnett, Jon Heder, Dax Shepard, and Alexis Dziena. The film is about a young girl from New York who ventures to Rome where she throws magic coins from a "foolish" fountain of love. Soon she finds that many men are following her around. When she finds the man she does like she doesn't know if the love is real or if it is simply because of the magic coins. Mark Steven Johnson is the director, and plan to fly to the theater on January 29, 2010 to catch this.
